Kenneth K. Diemer 85, of Montgomery, Illinois passed away at Tillers Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family on July 3, 2014. He was born January 9, 1929 in Odell, the son of the late Peter and Frances (Patten) Diemer. He was baptized into Christ at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Lacon, Illinois. He was raised on the family farm in Pontiac and graduated from Pontiac Township High School. He attended Illinois State University. Ken served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. He completed Airman School and was a member of Patrol Squadron VP-21.

Ken, “PaPa”, married the love of his life Doris E. Baker at the First Methodist
Church in Pontiac, Il. on September 21, 1952. While he took a position with Caterpillar Tractor Company as a Tool Designer for 24 years that relocated him to the Aurora area, he never took his sites off the family farm. He chose a place to raise his family in a new unincorporated subdivision called Boulder Hill after purchasing a model home. He was an active man, frequently walking or riding his bike to work and even in later years, took water exercise classes with his wife.  He had a keen appreciation for music and was able to play a variety of instruments. He was gentle and soft spoken with a quick dry wit and endless love for his family.

Doris E. (Baker) Diemer 82, of Montgomery, Illinois passed away at Tillers Nursing home surrounded by her loving family on July 7, 2014. She was born June 24, 1932 in Cullom, Illinois, the daughter of the late William and Vada (Ferguson) Baker. She was baptized into Christ at the Methodist Church in Sullivan, Illinois. She was raised in Chicago, but also spent time with her grandparents Lola and Calvin Ferguson in Pontiac, Illinois. She graduated from Harrison High School in Chicago and The Chicago School of Dental Nursing.

She survived her beloved husband Kenneth for four days until the Lord called her home. She was dedicated to her family and home making. She loved to cook and garden but especially loved to entertain her grandchildren. She and Papa truly were brought together as one by the Lord and were rarely apart.

Ken and Doris are survived by their sons David Diemer of Montgomery;  James (Barbara) Diemer of Oswego; daughter Susan (Ron) Dieter of Oswego; and Kenneth’s two sisters, Irene Crandall of Piper City, Illinois and Vera Ehnen of Avon, Connecticut; Doris’s brother  William Baker; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

They were preceded in death by their parents; Ken’s brothers Marion, George, Ewald, Donald and a sister Gertrude Kennedy, and Doris’s brother Daniel Baker.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 5:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will be private. Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to the Shriner Children’s Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
