Frank “Ed” Donaldson, 75, of Montgomery, passed away on March 29, 2014. He was born on July 16, 1938, in Morrisonville, IL, the son of Everett and Esther (Manes) Donaldson. Ed proudly served his country with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division.  After serving his country he met and married JoAnn Smith, sadly she died one day after giving birth to their only daughter Tamara. He then went on to marry Connie Green and together they had 3 boys Dan, David and Dennis. In 1980 he met Barbara Maxey and her 2 daughters Michelle and Randi whom he treated like his own, in 1981 they were married. Through the years he worked at Process Plastics and Simms Plastics, later getting his Realator’s Lisence and working for Bohler-Rouse Realty. Ed also managed the Eagles Club and in retirement was a driver for United Express. He was a member of the Eagles Club, Athletic Club, Luxie Club and the VFW. Ed was  He and his wife had a passion for traveling, they traveled across the U.S. visiting many presidential libraries as well as traveled through Europe. In 2000 Ed and Barb started wintering in Arizona. Ed loved the Apache Junction area. They made so many good friends and had so many “adventures.”  Ed’s favorite time was when his children and grandchildren would visit over spring break. His family will always remember him for his love and devotion to his big family. Ed was also able to help many others through his gift of organ donation.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Barbara, his children Tamara JoAnn (William) Lorang, Daniel Donaldson, David Donaldson, Dennis (Jennifer) Donaldson, Michelle (Mark) Scheller, and Randi (John) Wagner, his grandchildren, Ryan Olin, Shawn Lorang, Tyler (Marisa) Lorang, Samantha (Terry) Weber, Bradley (Rachel) Donaldson, Nicole Donaldson, Joshua (Cassandra) Donaldson, Reid and Collin Donaldson, Jessica and Jerry Stroud, Nick and Kayleigh Young, Joey Scheller and Jacob and Tara Wagner. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Dystiney, Autumn, Keira, Carson, Armando, Adrian, Malayna, Ryleigh, Gabriel and Noah, his brother Leroy (Judy) Donaldson and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife JoAnn, his siblings Carol Bolen and Woody Donaldson and grandson Ronnie Jay Stroud.
Family will be receiving guests on Tuesday; April 1, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Funeral will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Dieterle Memorial Home. Interment will be private.
