Share Tribute:

Edith W. Anderson  (Mark), age 86, of Oswego, IL, formerly of Aurora, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2012, at Jennings Terrace Nursing Home in Aurora.
She was born on March 16, 1926 in Chicago to Barbara and Otto Mark. She graduated from Naperville High School in 1944 and went on to attend Copley Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1947.
It was during Nursing School that she met a patient named George Anderson and they were married in 1948 and spent the next 42 years together.
During her over 40 year nursing career, she was employed at Copley Hospital, the office of William Eilert, the St. Charles Medical Center and Dreyer Clinic. For the last 15 years of her working life, she was the administrator of Sunnymere Retirement Home in Aurora.
Edith was a long-standing member of Fourth Street Methodist Church. She was actively involved in United Methodist Women, the Lay Ministry, Maccabeans, Quilting Club and also served in other church leadership roles. She enjoyed reading, swimming and spending time with her family; particularly gathering for celebrations that were held at the house where she was raised in Naperville.
Edith cherished the friendships she made throughout her life; always taking time to attend reunions of her high school class, her nursing school, and participating in church and civic groups. These God-given friendships added meaning to her life.
Edith is survived by her two sons, Mark (Laura), and granddaughter Natalie of Aurora; as well as Bruce (Donna), grandson Kurt and granddaughter Kirsten of Naperville. She is also survived by two sisters; Ruth (Dave) Miller of Sullivan, Il. and Inger Huber of San Jose, Ca. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 1990, a brother, Otto, Jr. and a foster sister, JoAnne Johnville, both of Naperville.
The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Jennings Terrace Nursing Home; the Tiller’s Nursing Home in Oswego; Dr. John Karesh of Oswego; Pastor Debra Tinsley Taylor; Rasa Korneviene, her caregiver; and the Four Seasons Hospice Care Team for their care and concern during the latter part of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fourth Street Methodist Church in Aurora, 551 S. 4th St., on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation and the family requests that memorials be given in Edith’s name to Fourth Street Methodist Church (www.fourthstumc.org) or to the Wayside Cross Rescue Mission (www.waysidecross.org).
