William O. Martner, 93, of Aurora passed away on August 11, 2014. He was born on May 28, 1921 in Sugar Grove, IL the son of William and Martha (Klattenhoff) Martner. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army as a Staff Sargent and Chief Radio Operator in the 5th Division RCN. He was a member of the American Legion Post 84. Bill was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the pipe organ and he was a Ham Radio Operator. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Betty (Weber), his children Kathy (John) Munro, Anna Martner, Albert Martner, Carl Martner, Christine Martner, and James Martner, 1 grandson Andrew (Clarisa) McFarland, 2 great-grandsons Jack McFarland and Jay Yager and sister Margaret Sims. He is preceded in death by his son William G. Martner and 4 sisters. Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, August 14th from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seasons Hospice, www.seasonshospice.org
