Emma Pruneda

Emma Huizar Pruneda “La Senora de Los Pasteles”, 72, of Aurora, IL passed away surrounded by her family on May 15, 2017. She was born on September 21, 1944 in Jourdanton, Texas the daughter of Genaro and Francis (Quintanilla) Huizar. She was a longtime member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She had a passion for baking and especially loved making wedding cakes, cake toppers and holiday cookies. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was lovingly referred to as the “Other Grandma” by her great-grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Joel Prieto; children, Emmy (Craig Henderson) Weber, Joel (Lisa) Pruneda, Jr., Mark Pruneda and Belinda Pruneda; grandchildren, Ashley Weber, Dakota (Anna) Pruneda, Phoebe Pruneda, Paige Pruneda, Sierra and Brandon O’Brien, and Xavier and Gwendolyn Davila; great-grandchildren, Amiya Booker and Lulu Pruneda. She is also survived by her siblings; Minnie Huizar, Elias and Edward Quintanilla, as well as many dear relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Ruben “Benny” Huizar, Mary Trejo and Sylvia Quintanilla; and grandsons Cesar Contreras, Jr., and DiMitri Pruneda.

Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church 271N. Farnsworth Ave, Aurora, IL. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL.
