Frank J. Butler passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 8, 2017 in Aurora. He was born August 26, 1936 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Alvin and Frances (Piatkiewicz) Butler. In his youthful days, he liked to race cars, including “The Beast” at the Oswego Drag Strip. He also enjoyed attending the Indianapolis 500. He graduated from West Aurora High School in 1954 and served in the US Army from 1959-1962. Frank worked at the Aurora Beacon News where he met his wife, Pat (Futterer), and shared a beautiful love of 54 years. He graduated from Aurora University with a BA in accounting in 1969. Frank was employed in the accounting department at Lyon Metal Products in Montgomery, Il for 36 years. He retired in 1998. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Frank’s greatest pride was his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up and follow their own passions. Frank was an avid golfer and loved to meet his buddies for some early breakfast and a round of golf. He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, and often served as an usher. Frank will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Pat (Futterer), 3 sons, Frank (Rita), Tom (Diane), Jim (Michelle) and 8 grandchildren Jonathan, Jacquelyn, Andrea Goodyear, Erica (Corey) Kile, Kristen, Michael, Jacob and Emily, 2 sisters Delores (Richard) Fetzer, Dorothy (Gerald) Wood, and sister in law Dorothy Butler, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Alvin “Bud”, and sister Francis (Robert) Holmes. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 13, 2017 from 3-7 pm (prayer service at 5pm) at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL. Funeral mass will be 10am on Monday, August 14th at St Peter’s Catholic Church, 925 Sard Avenue, Aurora, Il. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
