George A. Stiegleiter, 101, of Montgomery, passed away Saturday December 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 4, 1916 in Aurora, son of George and Ruth (Dyer) Stiegleiter. On April 10, 1937, he married Clara Kerber, in Oswego, and they were married for 65 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy in World War II for 22 months as part of the crew of a Naval repair vessel that would come to the aid of other ships that would have the need for some type of mechanical assistance. He enjoyed bowling, being a member of 3 different leagues at the same time, but never achieving that coveted “300” game. He is survived by a son, Dennis, a daughter, Sherry(Duane) McKirgan, a brother, Art and a daughter-in-law, Patti. 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, His wife Clara, a son Ron, A grandson, Greg (Jackie) Olsen, and great grandchild, Braden Pflipsen. 2 brothers, Perry (the late Dorothy), and Robert. Family will be receiving guests Thursday December 14, 2017 from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL.
