Janet Rains

Janet A. Rains passed away, at the age of 74, on September 5, 2017.  She died peacefully surrounded by her special friends, Jim and Judy Bush and Dennis and Lyda Schmidt.  Janet was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 9, 1942, to Leslie and Frances Rains.  A longtime resident of the Boulder Hill/Montgomery area, Janet graduated from Hinckley-Big Rock High School in 1961, as part of the 4th Annual Commencement.  Janet was a dedicated Mercy Center hospital employee for more than 40 years.  She started her career as a Nurse's Aide at the original Saint Joseph's Mercy Hospital on Lake Street. When Mercy Center was built, Janet took on a new role as a Supply Technician, where she faithfully served until her retirement. Janet enjoyed Dr. Pepper, a variety of cooking shows, and most especially the Chicago Cubs. A loyal fan, she watched with excitement as they finally clinched the World Series in 2016. Her beautiful smile and sense of humor will always be remembered and cherished.  Janet is survived by one aunt, Mary Cannia of Omaha, Nebraska.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother.  Janet's visitation will be held from 9:00a.m.  until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,  September 9,  2017 at Dieterle Memorial Home in Montgomery, Illinois with The Reverend Timothy Mulcahey officiating.
