Joe A Rodriguez, 89, of Aurora passed away Saturday, December 30th, 2017 at his home, under the loving care of his family.  Joe was born in San Antonio, TX on August 28, 1928, to the late Catarino and Maria (Avila) Rodriguez. Joe grew up in Detroit MI, was a veteran of the USAF, serving at the end of World War ll, but eventually moved and made his home in Aurora, where he met the love of his life, Socorro. They wed on June 2, 1962 and were married for 53 years until her death in 2016. Joe retired in 1995 from the Dial Corporation in Montgomery IL after working there for over 30 years as a machinist.  Post retirement, he enjoyed spending time at home with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He was a "jack of all trades" and enjoyed projects of remodeling and building things around the house.  He was known for his love of family, his laughter and his willingness to help others, when needed. Survivors include his children; Jesse (Michelle) Rodriguez, Sally Aguirre, Anna M Rodriguez, Joanna (Christopher) Kenyon, Grandchildren; Sylvia, Nathaniel, Elizabeth (Tyler) Turner, Joseph, Braden, Alex, Raven, Patrick, Michael, Rudy, Melissa, Elijah, Lilliana and Isaac as well as 8 great-grandchildren and his furry son Baxter. He is also survived by his brother, Catarino (Ramona) Rodriguez and sisters;  Alma (the late Bill)Garton, Mary (Magdaleno) Gonzales, Rachel (Lenny) Moore, Loretta (Hank) Ianotti, Margaret Rodriguez and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Joe was precded in death by his wife Socorro, his grand nephew, Eddie Harris Jr, brothers; Frank Rodriguez, Robert (Bob) Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez and sisters; Sally Harris and Evalina (Pinky) Rodriguez. A very special thank you to Jenni and to all the caregivers and nurses that helped Joe throughout the last years of his life, along with his granddaughter Sylvia and her children, Alexis, Bryan and James, whom grandpa called "his little buddy" for stepping in to live with Joe after the death of his wife.  Also to his grandson Alex, his girlfriend, Triana Marion and their 5 month old daughter, Alaya Socorro Rose (known affectionately as Little Socorro to great-grandpa) who stepped in to live with Joe and care for him the last 6 months during which time he continued to battle his illness, dementia. Family will be receiving guests Friday January 5, 2018 from 3:00 pm until time of service at 7:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S.
