John Benakis

John N. Benakis 79, of Oswego, Il. at rest November 4, 2012 at Rush Copley Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Betty, loving father John (Karen) Benakis and the late Nick Benakis. Dear brother of Gus Benakis, cherished grandfather of Whitney and Nicholas. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. John was owner and operator of The Blue Lantern Restaurant for over 33 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved  the Bears, White Sox , Bulls and Blackhawks. John loved cooking at home for his family and friends and enjoyed reading and studying cook books. Family receiving guests Saturday November  10, 2012 from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral  service  11:00 AM  at  Dieterle  Memorial   Home 1120 Broadway Montgomery, IL . Interment Elmwood Cemetery River Grove, IL.
