Marlene Ella, known to her family as Molly, (Grant) Folts, 74, of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2017 after a very courageous battle with cancer. Marlene was born March 10, 1943 to Guy and Myrtle Grant in Fort Atkinson, WI. She graduated from Whitewater High School in 1961. While in high school Marlene was actively involved in marching band, sewing in 4H, yearbook staff, Future Nurses Club and Future Homemakers of America where she earned Homemaker of Tomorrow award. Marlene balanced her life raising her daughters and supporting her husband in the United States Air Force until settling in Aurora in 1972. Marlene worked in the Trust Department at various local banks until her retirement in February 2008. After retiring she contemplated working part-time yet she chose to devote her time to some of her greatest passions; reading, bowling and her “Precious” great grandson Kaden.  Marlene was very active in bowling not only as a participant but holding positions on several Associations. With her daughters in junior bowling it was only natural for her to become involved in Young America Bowling Association. Marlene was involved in the Aurora Women’s Bowling Association for thirty-one years where she served as vice president, treasurer, and director. Greater Aurora Bowling Association for ten years where she served as director as well as the first president. Marlene held the #1 charter member card for the Illinois State 500 Club where she served as first president, a lifetime member and served on the board. On a larger scale, if local and state weren’t enough, Marlene joined the Women’s National 500 Club in 1989 where she served as president for the past six years. With all her accomplishments and devotion it came as no surprise when she was nominated for the Bowling Hall of Fame on both the local and state level. Marlene made many lifelong friends and memories during her forty-five years in the sport of bowling.

Marlene was preceded in death by her father and mother; her sisters and brother-in-law’s,  Mildred (Donald) Brown, Harriet (Raymond) Stritzel, Lois (Gerald) Kitzman, Ruth (William) Parker; her brother, Charley Grant; and her nephew, Dean Kitzman. She is survived by her husband, Frank of Aurora, IL. She is also survived by her daughters, Deanna Line of Fountain, CO, Tracy (Randy) Riskus of Plano, IL, and special daughter Tia (Jeff) Dumdie of Aurora, IL; granddaughters, Courtney Geers of Joliet, IL, Katie Geers of Plano, IL, Stephanie Dumdie Johnson of Cortland, IL; grandsons, Jason Line of Tacoma, WA and Thomas Dumdie of Aurora, IL; great grandchildren, Kaden Geers of Plano, IL, Trenton Norris of Cortland, IL, Annabelle and Ezra Line of Tacoma, WA; sister, Karen (Craig) Hummel of Oregon, IL; sister-in-law, Betty Ann Grant of Castle Rock, CO; 16 nieces and nephews; 31 great nieces and nephews; 29 great-great nieces and nephews; as well as several Grant, Ferguson and Swan cousins of Wisconsin. Marlene came from a very large, loving family who were her whole world.

Visitation will be held at Dieterle Funeral Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 1pm until time of service at 2pm  A second celebration of Marlene’s life will be held at Trinity Church United Methodist, 2505 Boomer Lane, Yorkville, IL at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First National Bank, 109 W. Veterans Parkway, Yorkville, IL 60565 in memory of Marlene Folts for great-grandson Kaden Geers’ future education.

There will be a memorial and she will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Whitewater, WI on July 28, 2017.

For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
