Shirley Brown

Shirley Ellen Brown, age 83, ran through the pearly gates of Heaven on the morning of April 25th, 2024.

She shined the light of Jesus to everyone through her faith and worship.

She was a loving mother to Robin Peterman, Debbie Frankford, Brenda Goodwin (Harvey), Lorrie Darce, Stephanie King (Jimmie), and Tracy Green (Rodney). Cherished grandmother of Brian, Renee, Dorian, Summer, Zack, Danny, Nicholas, Danielle, Jordan, and Jacob. Devoted great grandmother of Alice, Clare, Ava, Jojo, Mikayla, Aidan, and Maya. Soon to be great-great grandmother of Sadie.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Waneta Evans; siblings, Carolyn Crask, Linda Mays, Leon Evans, and granddaughter Shawna McCombs.

She left a legacy of love for God that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was an extremely talented musician and could play any instrument she put her hands on. She sang and played the guitar, the accordion, banjo, and mandolin, but was best known for her fantastic piano playing. She loved her heavenly father Jesus Christ and made it her mission to help others. She believed prayer could solve anything and that God would provide, no matter what the need. Shirley embodied caring in its purest form. Her concern and empathy for those around her were shown through her every action and word. Her greatest concern was that everyone know Jesus. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at 6PM, at Indian Trail Church of God in Aurora, Illinois. Burial Service will take place on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at 1:00pm at Oakdale Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois.
