To the Carlson family, I had the pleasure of working with Wally when he was at S&C. I learned a lot from him about the art of writing well. He had the knack and patience to find just the precise wording to convey his thoughts and he tried to teach that to me. His patience and friendly demeanor were an example to all. I can say that he influenced my career. My deepest sympathies on the loss of Wally. Tom
