Allen Blackmon, 74, of Oswego, IL passed away on October 20, 2021. He was born in Fort Dix, NJ on August 18, 1947, the son of Ardea and Joseph Blackmon. Raised in Hopewell, Virginia, growing up Allen was a proud Eagle Scout and talented gymnast throughout high school and college. A very smart and educated man, he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Old Dominion University, a second bachelor's degree in Health Science from Duke University, and also a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Illinois, Chicago. After his time in the Navy (1970 -1973) he married the love of his life, Renee Blackmon on August 19, 1973, and they started a family together. After his sons were born, Allen joined the Army Reserve for a time. He was very active in his son's lives and even coached their sports teams when they were young. Allen had a successful career as a Physician Assistant in Illinois and relocated to Indiana to pursue his career opportunities. After he retired in 2009, he joined the Indiana Guard Reserve. Eventually Allen and his wife moved back to Illinois to be closer to family, who he loved very much. 

Allen is survived by his wife, Renee Blackmon; children Jeff Blackmon, and David (Carrie) Blackmon; granddaughter Evangeline Blackmon, brother Robert (Marien) Blackmon and several nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ardea and Joseph Blackmon.

Family will be receiving guests on Friday October 29, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave, Montgomery, IL 60538. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00 am also at Dieterle Memorial Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, IL.
