Barbara Faye Johnson nee Foshie, age 75, was called home to heaven on June 25, 2017 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL, surrounded by her family.  She was born April 23, 1942 in Moshiem, TN to Gladys and Georgia Foshie.

One day at school, she pointed out a boy to her good friend and said, “I’m going to marry him.” Always a woman who was determined to accomplish what she set her mind to, she married that boy, James Carroll Johnson on April 11, 1958. In the next few years they had two sons and moved to Aurora, Illinois and later added a daughter to the family.

Barbara attended Waubonsee Community College, Benedictine University and became a Registered Nurse. She worked many years at Copley Hospital and after retiring, worked as ADON and DON at McAuley Manor.  She always provided the best possible care to every patient she had and took time to take care of the family too.

Barbara loved to travel, especially if she got to take one of her grandkids with her. She treasured every trip home to Greeneville over the years. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing. She made many projects for friends and family. She was also the family genealogist.  She will always be remembered for her amazing “mom-isms” that we have repeated and laughed about for years.

She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Oswego, and always greeted everyone with a smile and kind word. She loved to read her Bible and tried to learn as much as she could about God and all of his glories.

She is survived by her sons, Randy (Cindy) Johnson, Roger (Melissa) Johnson and her daughter Joni (Mark) Hatfield, all of Aurora, IL. Her Grandchildren, Jennifer (Blake) Bielfeldt, Sarah (James) Schmidt, Matthew (Katelyn) Johnson, Ryan (Brandee’) Johnson, Elizabeth Hatfield,  William Hatfield, and one great-grandson Maximilian Bielfeldt; her brother, Don (Teresa) Foshie of Grenneville TN, two sisters in law, one brother in law, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carroll and three special in-laws.

Family will be receiving guests on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL.

Memorial Contributions can be made in her name to Seasons Hospice, 2195 Diehl Rd. Naperville, IL.
