Barbara Schuster was born December 12, 1927 in Rock Island, IL to Claude and Evelyn Webb.  They moved to Aurora where she attended East Aurora High School.  She met her husband Leo Schuster and was married in August of 1947.  At the time Barbara was a waitress at the Dutch Oven Restaurant across from the old train station in Aurora.  She later worked as a secretary, a driver for District 131 special needs students, and as a food service employee for Aramark at Oswego High School.  Barbara bowled and golfed for years, and she was proud of being the charter secretary of the Foxy Ladies Golf League and of her many golf and bowling leagues over the years. Leo was a young submariner torpedo man aboard the USS Sennet. Later the couple enjoyed traveling to Submariner’s conventions all over the country and reconnecting there with friends. She and Leo built their first home on Rising Street in Aurora where they had two daughters, Lynda O’Brien and Christine Hofner.  They built a home on Gates Street where they resided until building their “dream home” on Wolf Crossing in Oswego.  Barbara and Leo loved to tend to their 3 acres and large apple orchard, canning many jars of applesauce and making pies.  The two were long-time members of the Tiger Club and Saint Anne’s Catholic Church. When she was no longer able to maintain the property, she moved to West End Court in the village, then to Heritage Woods in Yorkville, and finally to Aldon Estates of Naperville where she passed away August 4, 2017.  She is survived by her two daughters, a son-in-law Tim Hofner, 8 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Betty (Brandom) and Janice (Newby) Webb and one great-grandson Gabriel Kaupke. Family will be receiving guest on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL 60538.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at St. Anne's Catholic Church 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL.  Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora, IL.  For directions and guestbook visit www.dieterlememorialhome.com  630-897-1196
