William (Bill) Eugene Bergeron, 87, of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9th, 2018, at home following a brief illness. Bill was born on April 12, 1931, in DeKalb, IL to Ethel (Lawrence) Bergeron and Leonard Taft Bergeron. 

 Bill graduated from DeKalb High School in 1949 and attended Illinois Wesleyan University.  Bill served in the US Navy from 1949 – 1953 on the USS Cora Sea (CVA-43) and he retired after many years in the savings and loan industry in 1996. Following that he was with the West Aurora School District 129 as a school bus driver for 15 years. Bill was a member and secretary of the Rotary International Club from 1994-2001.Recently he served as volunteer at Rush Copley accumulating 1,190 volunteer hours until stepping down in August. He also served as a Commissioner on the Aurora Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals for the past 15 years. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of 40 years; his children, Brad Bergeron, Renee Bergeron of Chino Hills, CA, Jodi (Jim) Long of DeKalb, IL and Lisa Bergeron of Malta, IL; their son Jeremy (Renee) Bergeron of Avoca WI, his stepchildren Gina (Ken) Larsen (children Kyle and Lindsey) of Yorkville, IL, and Christy (Donnie) Escolas of Atascadero, CA.; grandchildren Kyle Larson, Lindsey Larson, and Hanna Bergeron, and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Leonard Bergeron of DeKalb, IL and siblings, Marilyn Gehrke of Sycamore, IL, Nancy Rockstead of DeKalb, IL and Lenny Bergeron of Taylors, NC. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15th from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 South Broadway, Montgomery, IL.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Advocate Hospice/Advocate Charitable Foundation.
