Charles Edward Richardson

Charles Edward Richardson, 96, of Aurora passed away peacefully on October 11, 2018. He was born on October 5, 1922 in Plainfield,IL the son of Roy and Claudia (Vaughan) Richardson. He attended East Aurora Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Pearl Harbor. While in the Navy, boxing became his passion. He would later compete in the Golden Glove Tournament. Upon returning from Pearl Harbor, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Lewis in 1947 and they would spend the next 60 years together before her passing in 2007.  In the 1940's, he fulfilled his passion and became the “Early Bird” disc jockey at WMRO radio where he was able to express his love for music. Throughout his life he was a talented athlete who loved all sports but he especially loved golf and football. In the 1950's, he became a gridman with the semi- pro Aurora Clippers football team.He is survived by his 4 children; Loren (Francisco) Carrera of North Aurora, Susan English, of San Diego, Martin Richardson of Aurora and Charles C. Richardson; 3 grandchildren, Sonisha (Aaron) LeSure of Aurora, Larry (Nicole) English of Los Angeles, Monica Jacinto and Daniel Jacinto both of San Diego; 3 great-grandchildren, Aaron and Aaden LeSure of Aurora and Izabella Jacinto of San Diego. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends, and wonderful neighbors Miguel and Maria Villalobos and Robert Elwood and family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy, parents, siblings Ralph, Leroy, Lillie May, Marylee and Anna. Family will be receiving guests on Saturday October 20, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of celebration at 12:00 Noon at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL 60538.
