Delbert Walls

After battling acute myeloid leukemia, Delbert “Del” Walls passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.  Del retired from Lyon Metal after 44 years of service and was proud to be a union member.  He was a member of Lucky 50 Club for over 50 years, he had served on the Board of Directors, volunteered many hours of his time and spent a lot of time fishing.  His willingness to help others demonstrated how caring, loving, and kind he was. Del was born on July 30, 1942 in Manila, Arkansas.  Later in life his family moved to Aurora, IL, where he graduated in 1961 from West Aurora High School.  Del was very well known for being an outstanding full back for the West Aurora football team. Del is preceded in death by his parents, Doffis and Pearl (Webb) Walls, father and mother-in-law, Nels and Dorothy Andersen, and his brothers-in-law Jim Finley and Robert Andersen. Del is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Marjean (Andersen) Walls, his children Brad Walls and Kathi Walls Long, and his granddaughters Jessica Long and Skyler Walls, who were the lights of his life.  Those who will also cherish his memory are his step grandchildren Ethan and Maisie Eckley, and his goddaughter A.J. (Apple Juice) Cramberg.  He is also survived by his siblings Ervin (Ione) Walls, Everett (May) Walls, Shirley Finley (Herb Temper), Vadean Adiarte, and sister-in-law Sharon Andersen.  Del had many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special fishing buddy Chuck Davis.  Jim (Susan) Forbes has become his extended family member that Del and Marjean think of as their son.  Most of all Del will be extremely missed by his sidekick Jojo. Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S Broadway,  Montgomery, IL 60538.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the funeral home.
