Derrick R. Aquino

Derrick Aquino, 47, of Aurora, IL passed away on January 25, 2021. He was born on November 17, 1973 in Geneva, IL the son of Ruben and Katherine Aquino. Growing up Derrick was a great athlete and was constantly reminding friends and family that he was the “1991 Athlete of the Year” at East Aurora High School, “Larry”. He will deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Daniel and Derrick, Jr.; granddaughter Athena Aquino; mother, Kathy Aquino; siblings Frank (Julia) Aquino and Jessica (Jose) Zepeda; maternal grandmother Geraldine Karas, nieces and nephews; Felix, Marissa, Jonathan, Bubbles, Corey, Verae, Frank, Faith, Jose Jr., Aubrey and Zoey. He is also survived by uncle Johnny (Sheila) Aquino, dear friend Patty Martinez, many other aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his father Ruben; sister Lisa Aquino, paternal grandparents Augustine and Manuela Aquino and maternal grandfather John Karas.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Due to current restrictions, a limited number of guests will be allowed in the chapel. Face masks and social distancing is required. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL.
