Donald Scott Hurst, 53, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2018 in Katy, Texas surrounded by family. He was born at Copley Hospital in Aurora, Illinois on March 9, 1965 and was a graduate of East Aurora High School. He worked in the telecommunications business for Centel Cable, Jones Intercable, SBC, & AT&T over a period of 17 years. He was a loving father, grandpa, son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by five daughters Randi Hurst, Kylie Hurst-Lorang, Elizabeth Hurst, Alexandra Hurst, and Alisanne Wegman; one grandson, Miles Lorang; his mother Bernice Hurst-Lawrence (Richard); sisters; Donyelle Vose (Jim), and Shelly Schultz (Don); his brother Chris Hurst; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald L. Hurst maternal and paternal grandparents. Scott was an avid Blackhawks fan and played hockey for the Aurora Flyers in the Aurora Hockey League, played baseball for Haydens Sports. He loved football and played for the East Aurora Tomcats. He loved motorcycles and spent his youth riding dirt bikes and avoiding the Montgomery Police. He had a passion for hunting with his dogs and fishing. He traveled to southern Illinois and Arizona to hunt ducks and geese. His family and friends will remember that he practiced duck calling often. True to his toughness and fighting spirit, TGTP (thank God think positive) he defied all odds and lived 18 years after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2000. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. The family encourages you to join them in celebrating a life well lived. A luncheon will follow in the lower level of Dieterle Memorial Home.
