Dorothy (Buchner) Straits

Dorothy Mary Straits, 91 of Aurora passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Central DuPage Hospital. She was born on February 17, 1927 in Aurora; a daughter to the late Michael and Katherine (Mathefs) Buchner. Dorothy enjoyed serving others by taking care of her family and volunteering at church and school. She loved her family, cooking and baking, camping and fishing, traveling, and spending time at Lucky 50 Club. Her family members include her children: Paul Straits and Wendy (Ron) McLaren; son-in-law: Jim McLean; her grandchildren: Russell (Veronica) McLean, Ryan (Jamie) McLean, Myra (Matt) Michels, Adam Straits, Kaitlin Straits and Dustin Straits; six great-grandchildren: Lucy, Jackson, Grant, Nathan, Arden and Edith; her siblings: John Buchner, Ann Straits, Louise Dreyer, Irene (Marty) Fredrick, Carl (Jackie) Buchner, Roberta (Jack) Quinlan and Susan (Ken) Sharp; her sister and brother-in-laws: Teddy Buchner, Carole Buchner, JoAnn Buchner and Carl Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents: Her husband: Clarence Straits; her daughter: Pamela McLean; siblings: Charlene Hoovey, Fran Butler, Ralph Buchner, Glenn Buchner, Robert Buchner and her sister-in-law: Phyllis Buchner and brother-in-laws: Robert Straits and James Dryer. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 550 4th Ave., Aurora; where the family will greet guests from 10:30AM until the time of services. Interment private. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Plum Landing Retirement Community.
