Ernest “Ernie” Tuymer, 86, of Aurora passed away on May 23, 2021. Ernie was born on June 13, 1934 in Aurora, the son of Hungarian immigrants Ernest and Margaret (Kiss) Tuymer. Ernie grew up on Pigeon Hill. He was proud of his Hungarian heritage. Ernie was a graduate of East Aurora High School, where he participated in football and excelled in track. He was very proud to be the two-time track captain.
Ernie was fortunate enough to retire early from ComEd after 35 years of service to spend quality time with Betty until her passing in 1996. Ernie always remembered their wedding anniversary and Betty’s birthday until Frontal Lobe Dementia had stolen his memories.
Ernest is survived by 4 children; 2 sons, Daniel (Cheryl) Tuymer and Edward (Patricia) Tuymer; 2 daughters, Eileen (Edward) Marek and Christine (Brian) Linden; 8 grandchildren, Chad and Michael Tuymer, Matthew, Stephanie, and Kelly Marek, Nicholas and Brooke Linden, Conchita (Connie) Rodriquez; and 13 great-grandchildren and a couple more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Tuymer; his parents, Ernest and Margaret Tuymer; his sister, Margaret “Tootsie” Jackson; and his mother and father-in-laws, Steve and Rose Emery.
Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery and a memorial service will take place at a later date. We ask that you please follow social distancing guidelines and wear a facemask and pay respects in a timely manner. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
