Frederick "Fred" J. Burgess

Frederick “Fred” Burgess (77) of Aurora, Illinois was called home by our Heavenly Father on January 3, 2022. Fred was born on April 7, 1944 in Collinsville, Illinois and is preceded in death by his parents, the late William Henry and Bridget Burgess from Collinsville along with several siblings.

Fred fell in love, married the love of his life, Rose Burgess, on May 18, 1963 together for 61 years, and would spend the next 58 years as husband and wife. Together they would have six children. Fred was a life-long member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Aurora where he was a devoted Catholic. He loved serving as an usher at his church and greeting the congregation as they would come and go from the services.

Some of his favorite things to do was to visit his local Taco Bell and many restaurants with his father-in-law - Huston. Fred worked for Carpenters Local 916 and was the Aurora Township Highway Commissioner before retiring. He was a very hard worker to supply the best for his family. His family and friends will miss Fred terribly. 

Fred was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and the greatest friend you would ever have. Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife Rose, six children: Deborah (Gary) Haefner of Oswego, IL, Brenda (Darrin) Rieckert of Serena, IL, Kim (Don) King of Sandwich, IL, Jennifer Olson of Aurora, IL, Mark (Tami) Burgess of Aurora, IL and Kelly (Ian) Enger of Newnan, Georgia. He is survived by several grandchildren, Dustin, Mitchell, Aaron (Alysse) Robyn, Lisa (Scott), Destiny, Holly (Eric), Kayla, Tyler, Samantha (Chelsea), Dan (Misty) and Dawson. Fred’s great grandchildren are Mia, Owen and the newest granddaughter Izabella whom stole his heart.

Fred’s family will honor guests on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home & Cremation, 1120 S Broadway in Montgomery Illinois with services being held at Dieterle Memorial Home & Cremation on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:30 by Father Tim from Our Lady of Good Counsel. Fred is will be laid to rest at Spring Lake Cemetery at 745 South Lincoln Avenue in Aurora, Illinois immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers, Fred wished any monetary donations be made to the family for a memorial that will be established.
