Gary Lee Moore, 81, of Aurora, IL passed away on July 1, 2022 at his home. He was born on September 6, 1940 in Williamstown, PA to Thomas and Jeanne (Hoffman) Moore. He graduated from West Shore (PA) High School in 1958.  In 1962, he graduated with a B.S. degree in business education from Shippensburg (PA) University.  In 1972, he received his M.S. degree in school business management from NIU. He also earned the rank of staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force between 1962- 66. On August 12, 1967, he married Nancy Nachtsheim at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, MN. Together they had 3 children: Deborah, Kathryn and David. Gary was a business education teacher in Illinois and Iowa and a school business manager in Iowa and Wisconsin.  In 1984, he became an accountant for Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT) and from 1989-2000 he was the business manager for St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora. After retiring, he was a school bus driver.  Throughout Gary’s life he served His Lord by holding many different offices and playing many different roles within the church. During his spare time, he enjoyed doing many large jigsaw puzzles, reading, biking, and traveling.  Gary also liked spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Nancy of 54 years, children Deborah Ray, Kathryn (Greg) Rittgers, and David (Wendi) Moore, six grandchildren, Carissa (Alex) Zavala, Jeremiah Ray, Ava and Joshua Rittgers, Molli Street and Clay Moore, and one great grandchild, Davis Zavala.  He is also survived by his siblings Donna Anderson, Jim (Chris) Turner, and Sandy (Bob) Erb. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Jim Turner, and his son-in-law, Carlos Ray.  Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8 from 10am until time of service at 11am, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 550 4th Ave, Aurora, IL 60505 with Pastor Jacob Stoltzman officiating.  Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorable donations can be made to either Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Rush Copley Foundation, 2040 Ogden Ave, Suite 101, Aurora, IL  60504.
