Greg Elsbree

Gregory “Greg” Allen Elsbree, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 59, at his home in Aurora, IL on Friday, June 17, 2022. Greg was born on September 21, 1962 in Pekin, IL to C. Allen and Patsy (Lucy) Elsbree. He played an active role in his church at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Aurora, IL, where he met his wife of 16 years, Denise (Hayworth) Elsbree. Greg took such pride in being a father to his two children Branndon Elsbree, Brittany (Elsbree) Adams, and his two stepchildren Dylan Hayworth and Savannah Hayworth. Greg was known for making the most memorable moments as “Silly Papa” with his six grandchildren, Zoe, Kash, Eli, Gabriel, Amelia and Nathaniel. He was goofy and witty, “Did I ever tell you the time I…?” and always full of jokes.  He enjoyed attending as many sporting and school activities as he could for his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephew. Greg was a person you could always count on to show up and be present and in the moment. He was the #1 fan and biggest supporter for many people. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and soccer with his older brother, Phil Elsbree. Greg graduated from Leland High School in 1980. He spent his free time playing softball, refereeing basketball and volleyball, creating photography, art, music, and spending time with his family. Greg was a proud union Teamster for 35 years retiring as Secretary Treasurer for Teamsters Local 179. He played an active role in his community and had a passion to advocate for others. Greg was the person who was always taking care of others before taking care of himself. He lived a very selfless and humble life. He had the kindest soul and a most gentle spirit. Greg was such a fighter and proved that to the very end. He will be dearly missed by so many in his family and friends. Visitation hours will be on Thursday, June 23 at Dieterle Memorial Home in Montgomery, IL from 3pm to 7pm.
