Gregory Louis Harp, 82, of Aurora, IL passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born August 17, 1936 in Ft. Wayne, IN, the son of Dallas and Ruth (Jones) Harp. He was a graduate of Van Nuys High School in California where he was a gymnast. He served in the U.S. Air Force between the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, he was an Airman Second Class, Military Police Officer in the Strategic Air Command. After his tour of duty in the Air Force, Greg enrolled at Indiana Institute of Technology, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and used those skills and knowledge at Caterpillar Manufacturing for 36 years as a Senior Design Engineer. He was a ballroom dance Instructor and enjoyed flying model air planes and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; 2 daughters, Judith (James) Holt of Louisville, KY and Jennifer (Gregory) Gaertner of St. Charles, IL; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany, Jack, Anna, David, and Michael; 5 great grandchildren, Jaime, Daniel, Gregory, Kinsley and Celeste; 1 brother, John (Jeannie) Harp of Lancaster, CA and one sister, Deborah (Joseph) Burke of St. Louis, MO., and dear sister-in-law, Janis Newton of Ft. Wayne, IN and beloved Dachshund, Libby. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Daniel Holt. Family will be receiving guests Monday, December 3, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
