On March 19, 2021, Jesus wrapped his arms around Guadalupe G. Ruel and took her home to be reunited with her husband and all the other beautiful angels after a long battle with ALS and COVID. Born on March 9, 1946 in Pharr, TX to parents Toribio and Clara Garza, she was 75 years old.
It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined and showed such bravery with a smile on her face. When anyone else would have broken, Lupe stayed strong. Even while fighting this terrible disease she never gave up faith or hope. She was a warrior and our hero. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in her and just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.
To know her was to love her and everyone just absolutely adored her. Her love was pure and everlasting and will always remain in the hearts of everyone she touched. She is now free of pain and able to dance endlessly with her love.
Guadalupe is survived by her children, Reynaldo Ruel III, Rebecca (James) Rivera, Michelle (Ronald) Moore, Yvette (Ricardo) Rios; grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Richard, James Jr., Alyssa, and Makayla; brothers, Juan (Rosie) Garza and Toribio (Alicia) Garza; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reynaldo; and siblings, Benita Esparza, Julio Garza, and Juanita Garza.
