Tribute

Isabel Encarnacion Carpio, age 96, of Chicago and formerly of Boulder Hill, passed away on April  24, 2018.   She was born in Lopez, Quezon, The Philippines.

Isabel was a dedicated educator for almost 40 years, having taught in Manila, The Philippines; Tokyo, Japan; Fresno, California, and Aurora District 131. She also taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD or Catechism) at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Oswego, Illinois and cherished her students, colleagues and years of teaching.

She was among those hijacked in TWA 847 in 1985.

She was a loving mother to Graham Carpio and Arlene Stovall and grandmother to Stacy and Ian Robertson. She is survived by her caring brother Jose Encarnacion. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their children.  She was a dedicated teacher to countless students who now live across the world and remains a spiritual inspiration to those she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Carpio; her sisters Remedios Osterstock and Socorro Abueva; her brother, Ramon Encarnacion; and her parents Anastacio Encarnacion and Rosario De Los Reyes Fortich.

We who survive her will miss her humor, wisdom and deep spiritual strength but she will continue to be with us in our memories.
