James J. Doppelhammer, 76, passed away at Accent Care Hospice Facility surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 22, 1946, son of John and Eleanor (Stine) Doppelhammer. In 1964, at the Age of 17, Jim received The Eagle Scout Award from The Boy Scouts of America. Jim was employed at Nicor Gas Company as a locator which involved locating breaks in gas lines for repairs. He was an avid gun collector of many different firearms including the John Wayne commemorative Winchester rifle. He also had passions knives, swimming, snowmobiling, The Chicago White Sox and reading magazines. Jim was a member of Cross Lutheran Church for 45 years, a life time member of The Tiger Club in Aurora; also a member of the Yorkville Lions Club, and ran the Swim Club for the Lions Club, but most of all Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy, 4 daughters; Traci Griffin-Lappe (Larry), Jaime (Eric) Edwards, Tiffany (Rich) Fox and Jaclyn (Brian) Crest. 3 sons; John (Julia), Joel (Jesse), Jeffrey and 16 grandchildren; Katie, Cory, Madison, Andrew, William, Miranda, Jack, Maya, Noah, A.J., Ella, Eli, Thomas, Ivy, Valerie and Zachary. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, a son - in - law Cory Griffin, and a grandson Matthew Lappe. Family will be receiving guests Wednesday December 7, 2022 from 3pm to 7pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway in Montgomery. Funeral services will be Thursday December 8, 2022, 10:30am at Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville. Burial will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery.
