James Hammond Sr.

James E. Hammond Sr., 84, of Aurora, passed away at home with his daughter Cyndy by his side.  Jim was born July 13, 1932, son of Peter and Katherine(Schuck). He proudly served in the United States Army from January 1953 – December 1954. He was employed at The Aurora Township Highway Department for over 42 years as a heavy machine operator and foreman. Jim was a lifelong member of Amvets Post 103 and the Aurora Turners Club. Jim is survived by his current wife Lorraine, 1 daughter, Cynthia (Bob) Vardell,  1 son Michael, 2 brothers, Richard and Jerry, 1 sister, Donna (the late Ralph) Moore , 1 daughter-in-law, Cary(the late James Jr.), 1 Godchild, Lisa(Lacey) Frimel. 6 grandkids, 10 great grandkids. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sharon, 1 son, James Jr., 2 grandchildren, Chad Gilman and Sandra(Hammond) Morgan, and 4 sisters.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday June 7, 2017, at 11:00 am, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery 278 Ashland Ave, Aurora, IL.
