Jeanette "Jean" T. Smetana

Jeanette T. Smetana, 84 of Sugar Grove, passed away November 23, 2018. She was born November 17, 1934 in Chicago; daughter of Edward and Mary (Gazarek) Zelinski.   She had an illustrious 30 year career as an Office Manager, working for several different companies. Jean enjoyed reading, gardening, playing piano; she had a knack for being a very detailed Event Planner as well as a terrific Bingo Caller.  She is survived by 1 son, Mark (Val) Smetana; 4 daughters, Judy (James) Leth, Jeannie Ann (Michael) May, Carol (Gregory) Cofer, and Wendy Smetana. 9 grandchildren Nicholas, Matthew; Erica, Ian, Alison; Chelsea, Gabriel; Paul, Lauren and 1 great grandchild, Alexander. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Frank, 2 brothers, Edward and Robert and a wonderful uncle, Clarence “Cook” Zelinski. Jean was a comfort to many souls  through her dedication and work with the Rock River Hospice, 2706 Ave E, Sterling IL. Donations to Rock River Hospice appreciated.
