Joan A. Fichtel

Joan A. Fichtel (Okapal), 78 of North Aurora, IL. passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Arden Courts of  Geneva in Geneva, IL. Joan was born January 6, 1943 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of  Louis and Marion (Tbebbitt) Okapal.

She married the love of her life, Raymond Fichtel on July 6, 1963.  Joan was employed at Farmers Insurance for 15 years.

Joan was always on the go, walking, going to craft shows, antiquing for that special Baraboo Postcard. 

Joan enjoyed Elvis, reading, and listening to books on tape and spending time with her wonderful grandchildren. She and her husband of 57 years enjoyed many fun trips to Baraboo, Wisconsin and shared alot of fantastic memories. 

Joan is survived by her daughter, Tammy Jo (Don) De Leonardis; son, Mike (Monica) Fichtel and three grandchildren, Megan Rae, Samantha Ann, and LCpl Shawn M. Fichtel; five siblings, Thomas Okapal, Richard Okapal, Andrew Okapal, Peggy Keriger and Louanne Okapal and many nieces and nephews. 

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond; sister, Janet Brackett and brother, John Okapal 

There will be no service at this time.
