John L. Christian

John L. Christian, 80, of Oswego, IL, passed away on August 28, 2021 at Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL with loved ones at his side. He was born June 4, 1941 in Melrose Park, IL, the son of Eugene and Florence (Planert) Christian.  John is survived by his wife, June; five children, Kina (Michael) Close, Karen Christian, Shawn (Tanya) Burke, Susanne (Brian) Madding, and Matthew (Nicole) Christian; 15 grandchildren, Peyton, Taylor, Elise, Brenna, Grace, Nolan, Shelby, Madalynn, Camden, Zeke, Carly, Dezi, Cooper, Bree, and Mila; sister, Sandra Starowesky; nephew, Daniel Ray; and niece, Deborah Ray Sherlin. He was preceded in death by his parents. John was a devoted husband and dedicated member of Calvary Church. A veteran, John served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. He spent many years enjoying fishing and hunting and was an avid reader of history. His greatest joy, however, was his many grandchildren. Family will be receiving guests Wednesday September 8, 2021 for a visitation from 10am until 12pm with a graveside service to follow at 12:30 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
