“So sad, so strange, the days that are no more.” John Lloyd Klimpke, 77, of Montgomery, IL, formerly of Aurora, IL, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2019. He was surrounded by his family’s love, memories, and gentle birdsong melodies. John was a lifelong resident of the area, a proud Tomcat through and through. He left only to serve his country. His military service in the United States Army, 24th Infantry Division, took him on a European adventure. After returning to the states, he worked at “The Cat House,” (Caterpillar) for 30 years, and was proud to be a member of the United Auto Workers Union 145. Within those years, he married Christine Behm and the couple had two children. John enjoyed a simple life; visiting his children, watching and feeding birds, and relishing nature. His love for the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, NASCAR, and golf were his daily routine. His charm and charisma will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nan and Orville Klimpke, and sister, Mary Jo Wilkinson. He is survived by his son, Glenn (Alicia) Klimpke, daughter, Andrea (John) Klimpke-Stevens; grandchildren, Logan (Emily) Stevens, Christopher (Jasmin) Klimpke, Maya Stevens, Anna Stevens, Angelina Klimpke, Dominic Klimpke, great-grandson, Henry McGraw-Stevens and nieces and nephews.
