Joshua R. Madsen, 23, of Glendale Heights, IL formerly of Oswego passed away on October 12, 2021 from injuries sustained in an accident. Joshua was born on May 20, 1998 in Winfield, IL the son of Kevin and Denise (Neely) Madsen. He graduated from Oswego East High School where he was active in Auto Mechanics classes, a member of the Auto Club and Bass Fishing Team. Josh was currently employed at Car X in Glen Ellyn where he was able to fulfill his child hood dream of becoming an auto mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, kayaking, snowboarding and motor sports amongst other things. He was a great cook and found much enjoyment cooking. He had a love for animals, loved playing the drums and had a passion for music. Above all things in this life, Josh’s greatest joy was being a father to his beloved daughter Riley. His quiet and gentle demeanor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Riley and his parents Denise Madsen and Kevin (Michelle Longmire) Madsen. He is also survived by Riley’s mother Megan Moeller and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother Alec James Madsen, maternal grandparents, Jerry, Fran and Peggy Neely and paternal grandparents, Harold and Marge Madsen as well as his uncle Kyle Madsen.
In keeping with Josh’s loving and generous spirit it was his decision to donate life so that others may live through the Gift of Hope.
Family will be receiving guests on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Petronille Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 19th, 420 Glenwood Ave, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will follow at Risen Lord Cemetery, Oswego, IL.
In lieu of flowers or memorial trees, contributions can be made to the family for a memorial that will be established for Riley. Checks can be made payable to Kevin Madsen.
