Remembering Charlie 

Carlos Luna, aka “Charlie” as his father lovingly called him, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021, at age 36 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his immediate family. 

He was born November 18, 1984 in Durango, Mexico to Salvador and Leonor Luna. He grew up in Aurora and remained an area resident. He romantically eloped and married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn, and welcomed three beautiful children to their lives and ours: Ramses, Leilani, and Julian. He is survived by his wife, children, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family.    

Carlos was a jack-of-all-trades, there was nothing he couldn’t fix or build in and around the house. His natural talent led to a career in the sheet metal industry right after high school and was at his most recent role, Superintendent at Roberts Environmental Control. A proud member of Sheet Metal Union 265 from the age of 19 he took great pride in his work and would often point out various projects and buildings he had worked on. 

Ever the entertainer his passions included spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals and drinks for family and friends. Humble, loving, and easy-going he lived life to the fullest, and his smile would always light up a room. With a positive outlook on life, he was a committed father and husband, a dedicated son, brother, and friend, offering support and cheering on others wherever the opportunity presented. He lived a peaceful life whilst always up for an adventure especially road trips.

His beautiful smile will continue to light up our hearts as we keep his memory alive. 

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home located at 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL 60538.  A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church located at 430 E Downer Pl, Aurora, IL 60505.  Interment will take place at Spring Lake Cemetery located at 745 S Lincoln Ave, Aurora, IL 60505.

By request of the family, due to COVID-19, a limited number of guests will be allowed in the funeral home at a time, please pay your respects in a timely manner, please also wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Hand sanitizer will be available. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carlos’ memory can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
