Julia S. Martinez, 102, of Yorkville, IL, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 9, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was born April 12, 1920 in Carrizo Springs, Texas, daughter of the late Florencio & Petra (Bernal) Salazar.
Julia Martinez was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great- great grandmother, and a friend to many. Some of her hobbies were cooking (especially making her Tamales), gardening, sewing, knitting, listening to Christian music, but her favorite thing was to spend quality time with her family. She had a strong faith in God and was a devoted member of New Life Church in Yorkville, IL.
Survivors include: four daughters, Janie Ruiz of Aurora, Carmen Rydberg of Plano, Irene Alvarez of Aurora, and Maria “Linda” (Richard) Schroeder of Yorkville; three sons, Edward (Jane) Martinez Jr. of Indiana, Carlos (Ann) Martinez of Oswego, and George (Amanda) Martinez of Michigan; 30 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren (too many to list).
She is preceded in death by: her parents; brothers and sisters; 1st husband Juan Escalante; husband, Edward G. Martinez Sr; children Johnny Escalante and Rosalinda Martinez; grandchildren Nathan Granados, Rosalinda and Josephine Martinez.

Family will be receiving guests on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at New Life Church, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Kris Heimer officiating. Burial service will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL
