LeRoy Strandell Sr.

LeRoy Melvin Strandell, Sr, of Leland, Iowa, passed away August 6, 2018 in Mendota, Illinois surrounded by his family. He was born on February 28, 1934 in Aurora, Illinois; son of Roy and Evelyn (Miller) Strandell. LeRoy proudly served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a machinist at Armour-Dial for over 20 years. He relocated to Iowa where he continued to be self employed until his time of death. Being outdoors was his passion, along with loving animals. LeRoy raised many on the farm while our girls grew up. Earlier in his life he enjoyed trap shooting, bowling, and flying RC airplanes. LeRoy was kind, funny, and helped anyone in need. He showed love for his family every day and will be deeply missed. LeRoy is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; their two daughters,Lauren (Danny) Peterson; Melinda Strandell; 4 daughters; 2 sons; 17 grandchildren; 4 furry grands; 9 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great- grandchildren; 1 brother; and 1 sister that remained close to his heart. LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 son and 1 daughter. Burial took place Friday, August 10, 2018 at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, Illinois.
