Linda K Matheny

July 29, 1945 ~ January 3, 2022 (age 76)


Linda Kathryn Matheny 76, Aurora, IL, passed away on January 3, 2022, peacefully in her sleep after a long illness. Linda was born in Chandler, OK on July 29, 1945.

She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Letha Keith of Stillwater, OK and a nephew Jeff Wilson of Overland Park, KS and brother-in-law Mike Wilson, Overland Park, KS.

She is survived by her husband of almost 37 years, Kevin Matheny of Aurora, IL, her bother Robert (Sandy) Keith,  Moreland, OK. Sisters Marilyn Boynton, Albuquerque, NM, Sandra Wilson, Overland Park, KS, Ginny (Bill) Cornelson, Cleo Springs, OK. Daughters Lesley Hudgins (Richard Hutchings) and Jennifer Hudgins, Pompano Beach, FL. Son Michael Hudgins, Normal, IL. Former husband Richard (Anita) Hudgins, Seneca, SC. Former Daughter-in-law Rachael Hudgins, Danvers, IL. Granddaughters Hope and Alyx Hudgins, Danvers, IL. Nephews Chris Wilson, Eric Keith, Will (Kandace) Cornelson. Nieces Diane Keith, Cindy (Kale Blackmon) Cornelson, Shannon Boynton, Brittany (Kurt) Surine. Grand Nephews Kalen Keith, Deacon Surine, Hudson Surine, Rocco Cornelson. Grand Nieces Kennedy Surine, Jagger Cornelson.

Linda was employed at Bell Laboratories/AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Alcatel-Lucent from 1980-2012 and did contract for Alcatel-Lucent from 2012-2014. She was a rabid Cubs fan, loved family, travel (the Central Coast of CA, Alaska and Hawaii were her favorites), theater, musicals, music everything from classical to rock and roll. As a member of the “Joan Gang” she enjoyed traveling, destination weddings, dinner parties, wine, and the occasional rendition of “Oklahoma!” when the spirit moved her.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother she will be missed by many.

A celebration of her life will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name  to the American Cancer Society or your local breast cancer support organization or the Steppenwolf Theater Company.
