Magalene "Madge" Kush

Magalene “Madge” (Hawkins) Kush, age 90, of Yorkville, Illinois passed away April 2, 2021.  She was born September 26, 1930 in Eleven Point, Arkansas, the daughter of James Monroe and Ida May (Meyers) Hawkins.

Madge moved to Chicago, Illinois in the late 1940’s, where she met her husband of over 60 years, Ed Kush, Sr.  They were married in1954 and soon after, moved to Aurora, Illinois, where Madge raised her family.

Madge supported the family-owned grocery business, Kush’s Certified and later Kush’s Food throughout the years.  Later in life, she owned and ran a motel in Wisconsin with her husband.

Madge is survived by her three children, Victoria (Chris) Karalis of Browntown, WI, Katrina (Jeff) Canterbury of Johnsburg, IL and Edward (Connie)  Kush Jr. of Yorkville, IL;  her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Kush and Michael Kush both of Yorkville, IL 

Madge was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kush Sr. and her three sisters, Audrey Cochran, Alene Bulawa and Phyllis Pasterik

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S.
