Maria Elena Miranda

Maria Elena Miranda, 85, of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on January 11, 2023. She was born on June 19, 1937 in El Zape, Durango, Mexico, the proud daughter of Nabor and Gregoria “Goya” (Aguirre) Cepeda. Elena was so proud of her roots and her mother Goya for being a midwife, who with the help of God assisted in the delivery of over 100 children. She loved cooking from scratch and found much enjoyment in feeding her family. She enjoyed gardening and knitting but above all things time spent with family was among her favorite.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joaquin; children, Josefina Miranda, Leonila (Vicente) Cepeda, Tomas Miranda, Maria Elena (Dan) Lanan, Maria C. (Salvador) Arredondo, Joaquin Miranda and Maria Teresa (Joel Rodriguez) Miranda; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ascension Rodriguez and Marcelina Diaz and brother, Cayetano Cepeda as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Lola and Faustino Miranda and brothers, Francisco and Jose Cepeda.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 620 5th Street, Aurora, IL 60505. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, IL.
