Maria Rivera

Maria A. Rivera, 75, of Aurora passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on December 17, 2017. She was born on August 17, 1942 in Harlingen, Texas. She was a devout catholic and a longtime active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel.  Maria was the cornerstone of her family, she adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a dedicated wife. She was very artistic and her art of cooking brought family and friends together. Her beautiful spirit will be missed but she will live on in the lives she touched.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years Luis Rivera; children, Lou (Devon) Rivera-Hill, Joe Rivera and Susie (David) Figueroa; grandchildren, William and Elliott Perez, Joe L. (Huendy) Rivera, Jr., Justin E. (Lesley) Rivera and Elisa and David Esteban Figueroa; 7 great-grandchildren and siblings, Alejandro Duran, Linda (Pete) Bustinza, Frank Cantu and Ofelia Cortez. She is preceded in death by her mother Maria Cantu.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM       at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 620 Fifth Street, Aurora, IL. A memorial service will be held at a later date and interment will be private.
