Marilyn Edna Berger, 95, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2018 in Northville, Michigan.  She was born in Chicago on May 29, 1923, and grew up in Aurora, IL. After living in Mt Lebanon, PA and Somerville, NJ she returned to Aurora where she has lived for the past 42 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred T. (Frederick Thompson) Dean, her mother Agnes Holmes Dean, and her sisters, Virginia (Dean) Babcock, Marjorie (Dean) Layden, and Jacqueline (Dean) Randall. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Berger) and John Boland of Farmington Hills, MI, David and Karen Berger of Canton, MI, and Mark and Susan Berger of Flemington, NJ. She was a loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren, loving great grandmother to six great grandchildren, and loving aunt to ten nieces and nephews and many cousins.

 

Marilyn retired from Sentry Insurance in 1991 and later worked at the local Blood Bank where she received a plaque recognizing her generous giving of more than 9 gallons of blood. Marilyn attended both Westminster Presbyterian and Wesley Methodist churches in Aurora. She was a member of Sweet Adelines in Somerville, NJ, in the bell choir and a soloist in the choir at Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church in Mt. Lebanon, PA and volunteered at St. Clair Hospital. She had an adventurous spirit and even rafted down the Colorado River on a five-day camping trip! She was an avid baseball fan of the Chicago Cubs and Kane County Cougars where she was a volunteer usher/ticket-taker. She also ushered at the local theater and until recently was a regular at Fox Valley Recreation Center.

 

Marilyn was a loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend who had a warm and welcoming nature. She is dearly missed by all who knew her. Thank you for making donations in her name to your favorite charity. A graveside memorial service will be held on on September 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, IL.
