Matthew K. Dale, 26, of, Oswego and most recently of Phoenix, AZ passed away from an accidental heroin overdose on December 19, 2017. Matthew had been in recovery for the past 2 years and struggled with drug addiction for nearly 8 years. It was a battle that had many ups and downs. Throughout his struggle with addiction he touched the lives of so many and his passion was helping others with the same fight. He became a sponsor, chaired many meetings and even appeared on the Steve Harvey Show where he assisted in an intervention. The courage to face this addiction head on is what he will be remembered most for. While in Arizona he enjoyed hiking in the mountains and time spent with his beloved cat Hamilton and girlfriend Amber. When back visiting his niece Lyna would not leave his sight.  In his younger years, he played baseball, was a boy scout and could always be found fishing and catching frogs at the pond with his little brother Trevor and building forts in the field with his sister Christy. He enjoyed BMX racing and in 2002 was invited to the National BMX Championship to compete with the best. Matt loved skateboarding and had a passion for music and playing the guitar.

Matthew Kevin Dale was born on July 23, 1991 the son of Wayne and Robin (Marten) Dale, he attended Oswego High School and graduated in 2010. He was a proud member of the Pipefitters Union Local 469. He is survived by his parents Wayne and Robin, siblings Christy and Trevor Dale, niece Evalyna Burton, aunts and uncles; Helen “Cookie” Franks, Sherry (Bill) Quinn, Trudie Bagby, Mark (Sue) Dale, Terri Dale, Al (Helga) Dale and Martha(Nick) Nagel. He is also survived by many cousins and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, brother Michael in infancy and fishing partner uncle Leonard “Buddy” Marten. He is also preceded by many friends who lost their lives to addiction.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Service at 8:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home.
