Matthew Robert Hoovey, 38, of Oak Park, IL died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
Matt was deeply devoted to his family, who miss him dearly. He was a loving son, loyal brother, and adored uncle. He grew up in Yorkville, IL and attended Cross Lutheran Grade School and Yorkville High School. He graduated from Valparaiso University in 2006 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he worked for Boeing in Washington and eventually returned to the Chicagoland area to be with his family, where he worked for Sargent & Lundy.
Matt will be remembered for his kind and gentle presence. He was a caring and fun person that had a positive influence on others, despite often being the quietest one in the room. He loved good food, fishing, planes and being with his family. Teasing his nieces and nephews was one of his greatest joys, and it will be sorely missed. He loved Chick-fil-A and dreamed of one day getting his pilot’s license.
He is survived by his parents, Dale and Patti Hoovey, his sisters Emily (Ben) Lovaasen and Kristin (Brandon) Engle, and nephews and nieces, Caleb, Joshua, and Rebekah Lovaasen and Camden and Cora Engle.
Visitation will be held at Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL on Saturday July 30, from 10 am – 12 pm. Funeral will follow at 12 pm followed by internment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Lutheran School.
