Melvin "Mel" Weeks

Mel Weeks, age 56, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019. Mel was born in Columbus, Ohio to Melvin and Donelda Weeks. He grew up in Naperville, Illinois and lived in North Aurora for the last 12 years. He is survived by his beloved son Benton Weeks, sister Patricia Weeks Griffone (husband Jay), brother Ethan Weeks (wife Cindy), niece Jordan Weeks, nephews Jacob Griffone, Andrew Weeks and James Griffone, as well as half sisters Sandie Weeks Pendley, Chris Weeks Moore and half brothers Mike Weeks and Mark Weeks. Mel was a graduate of DeVry University and worked for B&D Communications for the last 22 years. He loved playing soccer through the Wheaton Athletic Association and played up until the age of 50. He did volunteer work at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was a lay Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mel received his call from God. He was given the gift of life and now he is at peace. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved mother in Ohio. Visitation will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 801 Oak Street, North Aurora, Illinois on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. A full Mass will follow at 12:00 pm (noon). Mel will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens, 29231 County Road 424, Defiance, Ohio on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:30 AM. Arrangements entrusted to Dieterle Memorial Home 630-897-1196
