Miguel F. Gomez Sr.

Miguel F. Gomez Sr. was known to his family and friends as Mickey, spelled M-I-C-K-E-Y- like the mouse he would tell people. He came into this world on January 5, 1958. Born in Aurora, IL to Andres Gomez Felix and Frances Eleanor Suk, Mickey was a loud and funny Polish Puerto Rican. He was especially fond of his Puerto Rican heritage- the food, the music, and the beautiful town of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico where he lived many of his childhood years. Mickey would fill up a room with his presence and is well known for his many funny sayings like, “Que Cara!” and tall tales. He was a faith filled Catholic man and always made sure to say “I love you. God Bless you.” to each of his loved ones when ending a conversation or visit. Although for many years he was unable to work, he was notably proud of the work he did at Burgess Norton where he was a machine operator. He kept busy and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving Grandfather to all his grandchildren and was very excited about becoming a Great-Grandfather this summer. Mickey was proceeded into heaven by both his parents, sister Lisa Gomez-Salmon and his brothers Andres Gomez Jr. and Richard Gomez. He is survived by his three sons Miguel F. Gomez, JR. (Maxine Gomez), Daniel A. Gomez (Cassandra Flores) and Mario F. Gomez; his grandchildren Miguel L. Gomez, Naomi M. Gomez, Destiny N. Gomez, Keith A. Johnson II, Andrew R. Gomez, and Alexander F. Gomez; his siblings Sharon Stevens, Andrea Madrigal, Frank Gomez, and Rosemary Gomez-Leeker; and countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
