Mildred J. Gatewood

Mildred J. Gatewood, 95, of Aurora, IL passed away on January 11, 2022. She was born August 9, 1926 the daughter of Bertha and William Capshaw. Mildred worked as a physical therapy aide at Rush Copley for 26 years before retiring. She earned employee of the year at Rush Copley 2 years in a row! She’s been an active member at the West Side Church of Christ in Aurora for over 53 years. In her retirement years she began to enjoy golfing. She also crocheted, knitted, looked forward to her beautiful flower gardens throughout the yard, along with her vegetable garden, and walking three miles a day.

Mildred is survived by her children, Sandra (James) Berkland, Ronald (Kay) Gatewood, Mike (Nancy) Gatewood, and Tim (Diane) Gatewood; siblings: Sam (Peggy) Capshaw and LaDelle (Bob) Davis; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 21.5 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bunyon Gatewood; her parents; and her siblings: Grady, Lloyd, Robert, Jessie, Ona Mae, Jean, Alice, JoAnn, and Ruby.

Family will be receiving guests on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave, Montgomery, IL 60538. Service will begin Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM also at Dieterle Memorial Home. Interment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park.
