Patricia Gillen

Patricia Gillen, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on October 31, 2018 in Denton, TX. She was 69 years old. Pat was born on October 25th, 1949 in Aurora, IL to Owen and Rebecca (Beatus) Gillen. For 42 years, she served as a teacher and administrator of special education in the U.S. Virgin Islands, North Carolina, and Illinois. After retiring, Pat moved to Denton, TX to be near family and to help care for her grandson, which brought her great joy. Pat was known for her sharp wit, professional expertise, strong will, and compassion. She is survived by her daughter, Alison Gillen Maguire-Powell (Sean Powell), her grandson Thomas Powell, her brothers Greg (Paula), Mark, and Steve (Gayle) Gillen. She is preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Harold Owen Pence. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Pat’s life at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL 60538. Family will receive guests on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 1:00PM until the time of the memorial service at 3:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s honor to The Open Door Rehabilitation Center, 405 S. Well St., Sandwich, IL 60548.
